Health, Equity, and Environmental Justice Outreach

City staff and the consultant team conducted outreach to solicit feedback on the General Plan from the following groups:

  • Petaluma Family Resource Center English Language Classes - December 5, 2024

  • Petaluma Family Resource Center staff - December 9, 2024

  • Cafe 211 with Petaluma People Services Senior Nutrition Program - December 10, 2024

  • Golden State Manufactured Home Owners League - December 10, 2024

All groups received a presentation about Health, Equity, and Environmental Justice, and were invited to provide feedback on their experiences.


Blueprint for Climate Action

Blueprint for Climate Action Public Hearing 11/04/2024

On November 4, 2024, the City Council held a public hearing and adopted the Blueprint for Climate Action and can be viewed here.

Blueprint for Climate Action Public Hearing 10/08/2024

On October 8, 2024, the Planning Commission and Climate Action Commission held a joint public hearing and recommended the adoption of the Blueprint for Climate Action. The hearing can be viewed here.

Land Use Outreach

As part of the development of the Land Use Policy Framework and the associated Land Use Map, the City conducted a series of pop-up events and workshops.

City Council Land Use Workshop 10/21/2024

The City Council received a presentation and discussed the draft Land Use Policy Framework at their October 21, 2024 meeting. Materials can be viewed on the City’s website and the proceedings can be viewed here.

Planning Commission Land Use WorkshopS 08/24/2024 & 09/10/2024

The Planning Commission received a presentation and discussed the draft Land Use Policy Framework at their August 27, 2024 meeting and a recording can be viewed here. The discussion was continued to the September 10, 2024 meeting and a recording can be viewed here.

Land Use Outreach Events

In order to solicit feedback from the community on proposed areas of change, the staff-consultant team conducted nine “pop-up” feedback events located within proximity to possible areas of change at the following locations:

  • Saturday, August 31, 2024, 11:00am-1:00pm: Leghorn Park: 26 participants

  • Saturday, August 31, 2024, 2:00-4:00pm: Walnut Park Farmer’s Market: 25 participants

  • Saturday, September 7, 2024, 1:00-3:00pm: El Roy’s Truck at the Fairgrounds: 15 participants

  • Saturday, September 14, 2024, 11:00am-1:00pm: Shollenberger Park: 20 participants

  • Saturday, September 14, 2024 ,2:00-4:00pm: Ray’s Delicatessen: 15 participants

  • Saturday, September 14, 2024, 5:00-7:00pm: Cafe Puente (in Spanish): 20 participants

  • Thursday, September 19, 2024, 4:00-7:00PM: Harvest Beats at the Fairground: 46 participants

  • Tuesday, September 24, 2024, 9:30am-1:30pm: Lucchesi Farmers’ Market: 45 participants

  • Friday, September 27, 2024, 6:00-8:0-0pm: Movies at Lucchesi Park: 29 participants

Additionally, two in-person workshops on Saturday, September 21, 2024 and Wednesday, September 25, 2024 were held and approximately 100 people attended. The community workshops focused on soliciting feedback on the land use alternatives outlined in the Framework more specifically than the individual policies.

Feedback received at the Pop-Ups and workshops was presented along with GPAC and Planning Commission feedback to the City Council at the October 21, 2024 City Council meeting. The feedback was also used to develop the draft areas of change map that will be presented to the City Council in February 2025.
